“The Flower Gatherers,” Anil Srinivasan and Sikkil Gurucharan

Anil Srinivasan and Sikkil Gurucharan made a tremendous impact on the classical music scene when they first performed their collaborative oeuvre in Chennai exactly seven years ago.

An unconventional but highly nuanced western classical frame around a textured Carnatic voice proved to be a performance style that won the appreciation of musicians, critics and audiences alike.

They have gone on to perform all over the world, charting a new path that others have since traversed. They have collaborated widely – with dancers, theatre artistes, photographers and writers, and continue to create a body of work that remains fresh, story-rich and meaningful.

With “The Flower Gatherers”, Sikkil Gurucharan and Anil Srinivasan pay tribute to the rich classical traditions that they both represent, and chronicle their journey of the past seven years with a specially crafted repertoire.
